This is Gabriel, attired for the desert, on Day Five of our Egyptian adventure. Yes! This involved lots of excitement, overnight trains, feluccas, camel riding, carriage riding, bazaar mooching – along with the Pyramids, Sphinx and dear old Tutankhamun himself.
As one of our party said “What a guy!” We went with four other families, none of whom we knew before – but after you have shared an overnight train from Cairo to Aswan frankly you kjnow more about these people than some of your best friends. The children had a blast. Did they take any homework with them? Are you kidding! But they learned how to read hieroglyphics and slept under the African sky on a boat. Egypt was empty and peaceful, much more so than London this summer.
